E-STARS, a collaborative effort of the Department of Energy, CH2MHill Hanford Group Inc., and Lockheed Martin Information Technology, was honored as a top-25 finalist in the 2004 Excellence in Government Awards program held at E-Gov's Web-Enabled Government Conference January 30, 2002 at the Ronald Reagan Building and Interenational Trade Center in Washington, DC.

Ron Nelson, chief information officer for CH2M Hill Hanford Group, already knew that E-STARS was a significant contribution to efficiency in the federal government. On February 5, he had the opportunity to be at a national awards luncheon in Washington D.C. to hear government representatives officially acknowledge the value of E-STARS to the Department of Energy and other federal agencies.
E-STARS in the basis for CH2MHill's Problem Evaluation Report (PER) system, which consolidates tracking of all internal corrective actions and correspondence for their work at the Hanford Site.
