E-STARS was one of two programs supported by LMIT that were selected as 2004 Excellence.Gov Awards finalists by representatives from the Federal CIO Council, E-GOV, and the Industry Advisory Council.

Ron Nelson, chief information officer for CH2M Hill Hanford Group, already knew that E-STARS was a significant contribution to efficiency in the federal government.  On February 5, he had the opportunity to be at a national awards luncheon in Washington D.C. to hear government representatives officially acknowledge the value of E-STARS to the Department of Energy and other federal agencies.

E-STARS in the basis for CH2MHill's Problem Evaluation Report (PER) system, which consolidates tracking of all internal corrective actions and correspondence for their work at the Hanford Site.
